How Much Should a Therapist or Coach Website Cost in the UK?
Published 20 August 2026 · 6 min read
The honest answer is "it depends on what you're actually buying," which isn't very satisfying, so here's what each price bracket in the UK typically gets you, and where the trade-offs actually bite.
£0–£15/month: DIY builders (Wix, Squarespace, Carrd)
You're paying for a template and hosting, and doing everything else yourself: layout, copy, images, and getting it to actually rank. It's a genuinely fine option if you enjoy that kind of work and have the time, but most practitioners underestimate how long good copywriting and a clean, non-generic layout actually take alongside a full client caseload.
£200–£500: Freelancers and small studios
This is where you start paying for someone else's time rather than just a tool. Quality varies enormously at this tier, so the thing to check isn't the price, it's whether the person has actually built for therapy or coaching practices before: the ethical constraints around testimonials, the tone needed for a nervous first-time visitor, and what "what to expect" content should cover aren't things a generalist portfolio site builder will necessarily get right on the first pass.
£500–£1,500: Niche specialists
At this level you're paying for someone who already understands your industry's specific needs going in, rather than learning them on your project. That usually means faster turnaround, fewer revision cycles, and copy that doesn't need you to explain basic things like BACP or ICF guidance around client testimonials. This is roughly where our own packages sit, and it's the range we'd point most solo practitioners toward.
£2,000+: Full agencies and bespoke builds
Worth it if you need custom booking systems, multi-practitioner directories, e-commerce for courses or products, or genuinely bespoke design work beyond a template. Most solo or small-team practices don't need this tier, and are better served putting the extra budget into professional photography or a proper copywriter instead.
What actually drives the price, regardless of tier
- Number of pages. A single, well-written page is genuinely enough for many practices starting out.
- Custom copywriting vs. a questionnaire template. Writing that reflects your actual voice takes real time to get right.
- Photography. Professional photos cost more up front but do more for trust than almost anything else on the page.
- Ongoing care. Hosting, security updates, and small content changes are either bundled in or billed separately, so always ask which.
The practical takeaway
Don't shop by price alone. Ask to see other therapy or coaching sites the person or studio has actually built, and judge the price against whether that work looks like something you'd want representing you.
